The encyclopedia special wheel dehumidifier is a device that uses a rotating wheel made of solid desiccant for dehumidification. As shown in the figure, the wheel is covered with honeycomb-shaped flow channels. When air flows through these channels, it exchanges heat and moisture with the channel walls, which contain solid desiccants (silica gel and zeolite molecular sieves). When the air cools the desiccant, the partial vapor pressure of the water vapor is lower than that of the treated air, causing the water vapor to be adsorbed into the desiccant. At the same time, the sensible heat of the wheel and the adsorption heat generated by the adsorption process raise the air temperature. As the wheel rotates, the moisture absorption capacity of this part of the channel reaches saturation. When these moisture-laden channels rotate to the regeneration area, hot air flows through these honeycomb channels, heating the channel walls containing the solid desiccant. The corresponding vapor pressure of the water vapor is higher than that in the regeneration air, driving the moisture out of the desiccant. With the rotation of the wheel and the desorption process, the honeycomb-shaped desiccant channels regain their moisture absorption capacity and are rotated back to the dehumidification area, allowing the dehumidification process to continue in this cycle.
